  • Piano pedagogy is the art and science of teaching piano. Becoming an excellent pianist is a key part of becoming a good piano teacher--but there is much more. The pedagogy programs provide the curriculum and mentorship that will help you build the teaching career you deserve.

    Heidi is California State Certified chair (www.MTNA.org) and is one of only several Pedagogy instructors certified in the Orange County area to teach both piano teachers and students in theory and performance.

  • All levels of piano are acceptable.

  • Heidi’s Piano Studio is located in Irvine, CA and serves the surrounding cities of Orange County. Offering Private 1:1 piano lessons with a Steinway and Bosendorfer semi-concert grand piano.

  • Duration and frequency of piano lessons vary on a custom basis.

  • You may practice on any keyboard/piano available to you; however it is required that you have something to practice on in between lessons.

Mrs. Heidi is a nationally certified music teacher for over 30 years. She started playing piano at age of 5.  She has graduated Conservatory of Seoul 예원학교, 서울 예술 고등학교 and studied at San Francisco Conservatory with Mark McCray in her pre-college years.  She studied under world renowned pianist Daniel Pollack since age of 14.  She held yearly concert tours throughout Asia and the U.S, and has also performed as an orchestra soloist with the Hollywood Symphony in 1983. 

She was a piano professor at Northwest University for 16 years until 2001 in Kirkland, WA after receiving her music degree at the University of Southern California.  She has performed extensively in solo recitals and taught in as well as worked as adjunct music faculty teaching piano at Bellevue Community College, WA and also at Vanguard University, CA after relocating to Orange County, CA in 2002. 


She is a nationally certified teacher through MTNA since 1996.  Her students have won many top award and competitions at District and State level.  She has served as a President of MTAC Irvine from 2012-2015 for three years.  She is currently serving as a CAPMT State Certification Chair and is an active member of MTNA, MTAC, National Guild, CAPMT, while serving as the 1st Vice President at MTAC Irvine Branch.

She maintains a large private home studio coaching classic piano performance, composition, improvisation and pedagogy in the greater Orange County area.
