Biography of Heidi Lee Kim, NCTM

Ms. Heidi has been a nationally certified music teacher for over 30 years. She started playing piano at age of 5.  She has graduated Conservatory of Seoul in 1976 and studied at San Francisco Conservatory with Mark McCray in her pre-college years.  She studied under world renowned pianist Daniel Pollack since age of 14.  She held yearly concert tours throughout Asia and U.S. including performing as an orchestra soloist with Hollywood Symphony in 1983.  She was a piano professor at Northwest University for 16 years until 2001 in Kirkland WA after she received her music degree at USC.  She has performed extensively in solo recitals and taught in as well as worked as adjunct music faculty teaching piano at Bellevue Community College in WA and also at Vanguard University in CA after relocating to Orange County CA in 2002. 


She is nationally certified teacher through MTNA since 1996.  Her students have won many top award and competitions at District and State level.  She has served as a President of MTAC Irvine from 2012-2015 for three years.  She is currently serving as a CAPMT State Certification Chair and is an active member of MTNA, MTAC, National Guild, CAPMT, while serving as 1st VP at MTAC Irvine Branch. She maintains a large private home studio coaching classic piano performance, composition, improvisation and pedagogy in the greater Orange County area.
